Boxes Needed

We will be learning about arctic animals when we start school again. Each child will need to bring a shoe box or like sized box to school on Tuesday.  Small boxes will not work well so save your Christmas boxes and send one to school the first day.  Enjoy the rest of your break.  See you January 8th.

Christmas Program

Mark your calendars.  The Christmas program will be Wednesday, December 19th at the LDS church building on Greenfield/Germann. (enter from the back of the building)  The children need to come in church attire and be there at 9:00 a.m.  We will run through the songs a few times before the program begins.  The program will start around 9:20-9:30 a.m.  Parents, siblings, grandparents, etc are all invited.  The program will last about 30 minutes.  We will not be having regular school schedule that day so plan on taking your child home after the concert.    Thursday will be a fun day.  We will not be doing any school work, just playing and having fun.

Enjoy a wonderful Christmas break.

Halloween Party

We had such a great time at our Halloween party.  Thanks to Zach and Thomas' mom for helping out and all the others who pitched in.  I was excited our boo bubble machine worked.  The kids are so fantastic and looked great in their costumes.

Seasons and Patterns in Nature

We are studying seasons and patterns we see in nature.  We read a book called the Tortilla Factory.  The book tells the story of a man who plants corn in the spring, watches it grow in the summer, harvests it in the fall and grinds the corn into flour which is used to make tortillas at the tortilla factory in the winter.  We made our own tortillas at the Miss Becky Tortilla Factory. Below are some photos of the cheap, efficient labor force I have working in my factory.

Upcoming Info:  Each child will need to bring a small pumpkin to class on Tuesday, Oct 30th.  The best pumpkins are the ones sold for pumpkin pies found at Fry's.  Also the kids will be dressing up on the 31th for our Halloween party.  No masks please.

Fall Break

I realize we all have kids in different school districts which means different Fall Breaks.  I hope the week of Oct 8th - 12th works for most families because that will be our break.  I realize this is a change from the calendar but I think this week works better.  If your child is going to be gone this week please send me a quick email and let me know.  I hope you all enjoy this time with your kids regardless of which week you are on break.

Reptiles and Rascals

We have been studying reptiles and what makes something a reptile.  See if your kids can tell you how reptiles get warm.  Below are a few of my favorite pictures of the week.  These kids are so dang cute.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” ― Albert Einstein

This week we are talking about imagination.  If your child comes home talking about monsters, which they probably will, please reassure them that monsters come from our imagination and are not real.  On Thursday we will be making monsters out of empty tissue boxes.  Each child needs to bring an empty tissue box to school on that day. It can be any shape of tissue box. If you happen to have  extra tissue boxes lying around please send them just in case some children forget one.  Thanks Miss Becky

The First Week of School

We had a fantastic first week of school. Everyone got along splendidly and made friends easily.  I appreciate the kids all being so nice to each other and including everyone.  We started learning how to locate the #2 position on a clock.  This will be essential for correct handwriting.  Please watch as your kids do their homework and reinforce starting on the 2 and circling around the clock counter clockwise.

Wednesdays are show and tell.  Since we have 13 kids I am going to divide the group in half.  Those students whose last names are A-C will start this Wednesday. Students whose last names are D-Z will be the following Wednesday.  Check the calendar if you forget which week we are on. The item they bring must fit in their backpack with the zipper zipped.

I apologize for all the mosquitoes.  We have sprayed and will do so again this weekend.

Below are a few photos of our first week.  The last picture may explain why Beau won the award for most bites.  UGH!

Next week each child will be assigned an ingredient for making friendship ice cream.  Assignments will be made on Tuesday.  Please bring your ingredient to class on Wednesday.

Classroom Construction

The construction of the classroom is almost complete. Terry Organ Custom Homes has done an amazing job on my little project.  All his subs were fantastic.  There are just a few finishing touches to be done and the space will be ready for learning and fun!!!  I can't wait to share it with you when you come for Meet the Teacher.  I hope everyone is enjoying summer vacation and the joys of having all the kids home.  If you are not enjoying it, all I can say is "don't blink" because just like that the little rug-rats will be gone and you will miss the craziness of summer break. So here's to noise, chaos and family togetherness!
